SPARK YOUR CREATIVE FIRE! 18 Simple Codes To Get You Inspired

Being creative for a living can be demoralizing at times. It's tough to be creative "on demand" and stress comes from many angles.

One source of stress is: creative block. Sometimes referred to as "blank page syndrome". During a creative block, individuals find it challenging to start or progress with a creative project, feeling stuck and uninspired. Overcoming a creative block typically involves employing strategies to reignite creativity.

Here is a fun list of helpful cheat codes we've used for sparking lost creative fire:

Change Your Environment:

  • Step away from your usual workspace.

  • Change the scenery to stimulate new ideas.

Use AI to Get Jump-started:

  • Midjourney or ChatGPT can be great jump starters to your next look or idea.

  • Just start typing and get inspired!

Collaborate:

  • Brainstorm with others.

  • Different perspectives can bring fresh ideas and solutions.

Take a Break:

  • Sometimes stepping back and taking a break can give your mind the rest it needs.

  • Try to approach the problem with a fresh perspective.

Prayer or Meditation:

  • Clear your mind through prayer or meditation.

  • A calm mind is often more receptive to creative ideas.

Read or Watch Something Inspiring:

  • Consume content that sparks your imagination.

  • It could be a book, movie, art, or anything that resonates with your creative side.

Free-writing:

  • Set a timer and write without any constraints.

  • Let your thoughts flow freely, even if they seem unrelated at first.

Mind Mapping:

  • Create a mind map to visually organize your thoughts.

  • Start with a central idea and branch out with related concepts.

Experiment with a New Medium:

  • If you typically work in one medium (a computer), try expressing your ideas through a different medium

  • Writing, drawing, music….

Take Risks:

  • Allow yourself to explore unconventional ideas without worrying about judgment.

  • Taking risks can lead to breakthroughs.

Mindset Shift:

  • Change your mindset from "I can't" to "What if?"

  • This shift opens up possibilities and encourages creative thinking.

Reverse Thinking:

  • Instead of approaching a problem head-on, consider the opposite.

  • How would you solve it if you wanted the opposite outcome?

Embrace Criticism:

  • Seek constructive criticism from others.

  • Sometimes, external feedback can provide valuable insights.

Use Creative Prompts:

  • Find creative prompts online or create your own.

  • These can act as catalysts for generating new ideas.

Meet Up With an Interesting Friend:

  • Other people can be an amazing resource for a creative re-boot.

  • Meet with a friend to discuss your project or talk about something completely irrelevant!

Be Silent:

  • Be silent for one hour with no screens or books.

  • Being alone and silent without any distractions might be just unique and weird enough to get the ball rolling.

Go for a Walk Outside:

  • An invigorating walk can help clear your mind and get your blood flowing.

  • The simple act of being outside can make a difference too.

Take a Nap:

  • It might seem counterintuitive but rest drives creativity too!

  • Getting enough sleep in general helps our brains recharge and naps can do wonders for our creative output.

Remember, creativity is a dynamic process, and different strategies work for different people. Feel free to mix and match these "cheat codes" to find what works best for you!
